RED ICE
Notes from the former Soviet republics
I'm in a small café, around the corner from my office. In an unprovoked display of creativity, management decided to serve red ice cubes in their drinks. Upon receiving my Coke, I ask the waitress:
- What's this?- Ice.
- I know, but why is it red?
- Oh, she replies, suddenly understanding. That's because the water was red. Satisfied at having answered my question, the waitress spins on her heels and returns to the kitchen from whence she came.
